The challenge was to design a planning app where AI feels genuinely useful instead of gimmicky. Many calendar tools show what is planned, but they do not always help users prepare, leave on time or understand the rhythm of their day. I wanted Pace to feel like a calm assistant that supports users at the right moment. The challenge was to add intelligence without taking control away from the user.
The challenge was to design a planning app where AI feels genuinely useful instead of gimmicky. Many calendar tools show what is planned, but they do not always help users prepare, leave on time or understand the rhythm of their day. I wanted Pace to feel like a calm assistant that supports users at the right moment. The challenge was to add intelligence without taking control away from the user.
I mapped the main user journey around planning a day with AI. Before the day starts, users check their schedule and add anything missing. During the day, the app sends contextual reminders, such as when a meeting starts soon or when the user needs to leave to catch a train. I designed different ways to add events: manually, by voice or through chat. The AI helps fill in details such as time, duration, notes and location, but the user still reviews and confirms what gets added. I also explored the "My daily story" format, which summarizes the day in a more human and readable way than a traditional calendar list.
